Miyama kayabuki no sato ( thatched roof village)
Miyama town is 1.5 hours drive north of Kyoto from the center.
There are 39 kayabuki-roofed ( thatched roof)houses out of 50 in the north village.
It’s one of the most popular tourist spots in Miyama Town
, and the village has been highly evaluated for its historical landscape.
The buildings are built using traditional techniques, which have been preserved from medieval age.
In 1993, it was selected as a national Important Preservation District .
The area has gained popularity as a place where one can encounter the original landscape of Japan.
Many tourists visit here throughout the year.
The beautiful autumn foliage, with the quiet atmosphere, makes visitors feel as if they have stepped back in time to the old days of Japan.
There are two cafes, the Miyama Folklore Museum, and two inns, “Minshuku Matabe” and “Minshuku Hisaya” in the village.
Kamakura Shrine, located in the village, is a recommended spot from which you can look down on the village.
Ogurayama
On the way to Kyoto, we drove Arashiyama Parkway and passed by Mt. Ogura, north of Arashiyama.
It is famous for its autumn leaves and we could overlook the city of Kyoto!
Dinner
For dinner, we had beef dinner at Kijuro, a famous meat restaurant in Arashiyama.
It’s 3900 yen!
It was very delicious!
How was it?
Why don’t you try next time?
