If you register at least 6 hours before your scheduled flight arrival, you will be able to pass through
1:immigration and
2:customs
by simply presenting the QR code of your phone at the airport of Japan.
It saves time.
If you are not registered, you will have to fill out the customs declaration on paper as before, which takes time.
