Kyoto Autumn Foliage Tour itinerary is below.
From Tokyo to Kyoto by Shinkansen
We took the Shinkansen in the green car.
The seats were comfortable with reading lamps and seat heaters.
Kamo river
We walk along the morning Kamo River and could see the autumn leaves!!
Daigoji Temple
Founded in 874, Daigoji Temple is the head temple of the Shingon sect of Buddhism.
It is an important temple with 75,522 national treasures.
The temple is famous for the great cherry blossom viewing festival held by Toyotomi Hideyoshi in 1598.
He invited 1,300 people, including court ladies, and held a grand event.
Even today, the Daigo Hanami procession is held on the second Sunday of April in memory of the past.
The autumn foliage is at its peak, and we enjoyed the vivid colors of the leaves.
Goshuin (red seal)
Goshuin is a unique stamp of each shrine and temple in Japan, and is usually drawn in front of you with a brush.
Lunch
We had lunch at a restaurant inside Daigoji Temple.
The view from the window was beautiful and relaxing.
Tenju-an temple
The next stop was Tenju-an, the branch temple of Nanzen-ji.
The autumn leaves reflected on the pond were so beautiful that I lost track of time.
Nanzenji Temple
Founded in 1291, Nanzenji is a large temple of the Rinzai sect of Zen Buddhism.
We can go up Nandaimon gate and see the view of Kyoto.
Eikando temple
Eikando temple is the temple of Jodo sect, built in 853.
The autumn leaves are famous for their beauty in Kyoto.
The pagoda on the top of the temple offers a good view of the city.
Kaiseki Cuisine in Gion
In the evening, we had a full course Kaiseki dinner in Gion.
We enjoyed a number of beautiful autumn-themed dishes.
