Tottori sand dunes
The Tottori Sand Dunes are Japan’s representative coastal dunes in the west part of Japan in Tottori prefecture.
It’s not only a tourist resource, the vast sand and gravel area is designated as a special protection area of Sanin Kaigan National Park.
Size
It’s stretches 2.4 km from north to south and 16 km from east to west.
It was formed when winds from the sea blew sand and gravel from the sea.
It faces the Sea of Japan, and its highest point is 90 m high.
Activities
You can enjoy activities like below.
Camel Riding
It feels like walking in a real desert.
Sandboarding
Slide down sand dunes like snowboarding.
Paragliding
Fly over the dunes while looking down on the Sea of Japan.
Segway
Ride around the dunes on a Segway.
Mountain Biking
Ride a mountain bike through the dunes and along the beach.
