Shinen garden in Heian Jingu shrine
I went to the Shinen Japanese garden of Heian Jingu Shrine in Kyoto, Japan.
It’s the pond style garden very popular in Japanese gardens.
It consists of the South, West, Middle, and East Gardens, which are arranged on three sides around the back of Daigoku-den Hall of Heian Jingu Shrine.
The garden covers an area of 33,000 square meters, was created by Jihei Ogawa the famous garden designer and was designated a national place of scenic beauty in 1975.
History
Heian Jingu Shrine was built in
in 1895 as part of the National Industrial Exhibition.
It’s held in Kyoto to commemorate the 1,100th anniversary of the relocation of the capital to Heian-kyo.
And Heian Jingu shrine was planned as a partial restoration of the Dairi(inner palace) of the Heian-kyo capital.
The shrine pavilions were modeled after the Chodoin, the main building of the Heian-kyo Imperial Palace.
And these were restored to 5/8 the size of the actual building, which was completed in 1895.
Shinen garden
The shrine garden is especially tranquil in the quiet Kyoto, making one forget that one is in the 1.5 million population city.
A stream flows into the pond in the garden, and the sound of the stream is soothing to the ears.
If you visit Heian Jingu Shrine, you should definitely enter the shrine garden.
Admission is 600 yen.
I’m Nobu, one heart enjoy together!!!
