Hirugami Hot Spring
One of the leading hot spring resorts in Nagano Prefecture.
It’s stretching along the Achi River in Nagano Prefecture.
Although there is a legend that the hot spring has existed since ancient times, the current source was dug in 1973 during railroad construction.
Along the Achigawa River, there are cherry blossom trees and beautiful scenery.
The area is also quiet and peaceful, as Nagano Prefecture is prohibited the construction of any amusement facilities.
Tenryu Gorge
There is a scenic spot called Tenryu Gorge on the nearby Tenryu River.
You can see many cherry blossoms on both banks of the river.
We could see many weeping cherry trees on this day.
Tenryu Ohashi bridge
There is the Tenryu Ohashi Bridge down stream that spans the Tenryu River.
From here, you can enjoy dynamic views upstream and downstream of the river.
A train can also be seen far below.
Lunch
We had lunch at a local restaurant.
Grilled chicken which grilled on the table seems to be the specialty here.
Delicious!
Gero Onsen , Onsen Shrine
We visited the Onsen Shrine in Gero Onsen.
It is located on a hill overlooking Gero Onsen and offers a beautiful view.
Japanese serow
We encountered a Japanese antelope near onsen shrine.
They are timid animals, so it is rare for them to come out near a human village.
Snacks
At the end of the day, we went to a snack bar in Takayama city!
A snack bar is a counter-style bar, usually owned by a woman called Mama inside.
It is customary to have drinks and karaoke with mama and bar lady.
Mama and a lady sang and danced for us.
It was fun!
