Out itinerary is below!
Nomiya Shrine, Shrine of Love Stories
This shrine is mentioned in the Tale of Genji written in 1008, which is called the world’s oldest novel.
Nowadays, it is constantly filled with people praying for the fulfillment of their love and for the birth of a child.
Bamboo Grove Path
The path through the bamboo grove is a short walk from Nomiya Shrine.
It is a very surrealistic atmosphere as you enter the tall bamboo grove.
Tenryuji Temple UNESCO World Heritage Site
Tenryuji Temple was founded in 1343 as a temple of the Rinzai sect of Zen Buddhism.
It is registered as a World Heritage site.
The Japanese garden with a pond is beautiful.
Lunch
We took lunch at the restaurant with the view of Katsura river!
We ordered varieties of dishes!
Yummy!
Fushimi Inari Shrine
The shrine is said to have been founded in 711, and is the main shrine of the 32,000 Inari shrines enshrined throughout the country.
The shrine is famous for its countless beautiful torii gates.
It is said that there are about 10,000 torii gates in the entire Fushimi Inari shrine!
Yasaka Pagoda
Yasaka-no-to is a five-story pagoda in Gion founded AD589.
It matches the traditional townscape very well.
Yasaka Shrine
Founded in 656.
It enshrines the hero of Japanese mythology.
The Gion Festival, a-month long Japan’s biggest festival held annually in July is the shrine’s annual festival.
