Shinkyo (Bridge of the Gods)
Built in 766.
Entrance to Toshogu Shrine.
Legend has it that two snakes appeared to a monk traveling up the river and formed a bridge to help him travel up the river.
Rinnoji Temple
Founded in 766.
Tendai Buddhism sect.
The name Rinnoji was granted by the Emperor.
Toshogu Shrine
Built in 1617.
Eight buildings are national treasures and 34 are important cultural properties.
There is a popular carving of monkeys, see no evil, hear no evil, and speak no evil.
Also there is a graveyard of Ieyasu Tokugawa, the 1st shogun of Edo era.
Kendo Tournament
Japanese traditional swordsmanship, kendo tournament was held.
Boys excited about it!
Kegon waterfall
A spectacular waterfall where water from Lake Chuzenji falls all the way down the 97m high cliff.
The waterfall basin, which can be seen up close from the viewing platform accessible by elevator
It is a powerful sight!
Lunch
Lunch at a restaurant by Lake Chuzenji.
It’s a YOSHOKU, a Japanese Western meal!

Lake Chuzenji Cruise
Lake Chuzenji is the caldera lake of Mt. Nantai.
We took a cruise here, gave a beautiful view of the lake and the surrounding mountains, including Mt.Nantai.
Yudaki Waterfall
This waterfall flows down from the southern end of Lake Yunoko.
The waterfall, which is 70 m high and 25 m wide at its widest point.
We can see it directly below.
There is a small restaurant which sells DANGO( pounded rice)!
Lake Yunoko
A quiet and beautiful lake with the smell of sulfur from the hot springs.
It is very quiet and peaceful.
Many dragonflies were flying around.
