Gotokuji Temple

Gotokuji Temple is a Soto Zen temple founded in 1480.
It is located in a quiet residential area in the west of Tokyo.
It is famous as a temple for cats.
According to a temple legend, when Ii Naosuke, the master of the temple, passed by the temple during a thunderstorm.
Then he saw a cat under the gate beckoning to him.
As soon as Ii Naosuke entered the gate to avoid the rain.
The thunder fell on the spot where he was standing, saving his life.
From this story, it became a symbol of good luck that a cat saved him.
There are countless cat figurines.
Meiji Shrine

The largest shrine in Tokyo.
Surrounded by a large forest of 10,000 trees, it is hard to believe that it is in Tokyo.
Inner garden

The inner garden is the present from Emperor Meiji to the empress.
The atmosphere is very calm and peaceful.

A dog that waited for his passed away master every day for 10 years.
Now it is a meeting place for everyone.
