Torokko sightseeing train
We got on the Torokko sightseeing train from Arashiyama to Kameoka city mountain area of Kyoto.
We enjoyed the beautiful scenery of Hozu River and mountain!
Hozu River Rafting
Hozu River rafting is a popular activity that takes about two hours from Kameoka in the northern part of Kyoto down the swift Hozu River to Arashiyama.
It has 400 years old history from medieval age!
On this day, beautiful cherry blossoms could be seen on both banks of the river.
Togetsu Bridge
Togetsu Bridge is the symbol of Arashiyama.
On 9th century, aristocrats used this place as a resort to relax and enjoy the beautiful scenery.
Monkey Park
We went to Monkey Park in Arashiyama.
It is located on a hill overlooking the city of Kyoto and is home to about 120 Japanese monkeys.
Humans are allowed to enter the cages and feed the monkeys.
Kimono experience
We changed our clothes to Kimono and did hair make up!
Hogonin Temple
Hogonin Temple was founded in 1461 and is the branch temple of Tenryuji Temple UNESCO World Heritage Site.
It is famous for its beautiful Japanese garden.
On this day, we enjoyed matcha green tea and Japanese sweets while viewing the beautiful green garden.
Tenryuji Temple
Tenryuji Temple was founded in 1343 as a temple of the Rinzai sect of Zen Buddhism.
It is registered as a World Heritage site on 1994.
The Japanese garden with a pond is beautiful.
Bamboo forest
The path through the bamboo grove is a short walk from Nomiya Shrine.
It is a very surrealistic atmosphere as you enter the tall bamboo grove.
Kimonos are a good match.
Nomiya Shrine, Shrine of Love Stories
This shrine is mentioned in the Tale of Genji written in 1008, which is called the world’s oldest novel.
Nowadays, it is constantly filled with people praying for the fulfillment of their love and for the birth of a child.
Arashiyama Kimono Forest
At Arashiyama Station of Arashiyama Electric Railway, there are many objects with kimono patterns called “Kimono Forest.
It is very fun to see the various patterns.
Nijo castle and night illumination
Nojo castle is the UNESCO World Heritage Site 1994年。
It’s built 1603 to protect the imperial palace and the hotel when the shogun came to Kyoto.
It changed as an imperial villas and became as an imperial villa.
We could see the beautiful temporary illumination inside the castle!
