Sand Onsen, spiritual shrine, Kaiseki dinner, local Mt.Fuji, kamikaze pilots memorial hall in 2 days!
Hi I’m Nobu, I like traveling overseas and in Japan, visited 25 countries!
I’m a National Government Licensed Guide Interpreter of English for 8 years.
For the people who are interested in and planning trip to Japan ,
I show you hidden local information which you have never seen and heard of through books and ordinary site!
You will find unexpected fun through my articles!
I went to Kagoshima prefecture in the south of Japan for 2 days to enjoy nature, culture and foods!
Day 1
Airplane
From Haneda Airport to Kagoshima Airport, 1 hour and 25 minutes flight.
Kirishima Jingu Shrine
I went to Kirishima Jingu Shrine, known as Kyushu’s largest power spot.
The building built on the slope of the mountain is mysterious, as if spiritual energy is coming down from the mountain.
Sakamoto Black Vinegar Restaurantl
Famous for its black vinegar, this restaurant is lined with large ceramic pots of black vinegar in production.
The food is also very tasty with fresh ingredients.
Sakurajima Island
Sakurajima, an active volcano, is the symbol of Kagoshima Prefecture.
It is still smoking every day and sometimes explodes dangerously.
The view from the ferry is excellent.
Ibusuki Hot Spring
We stayed at Ibusuki Onsen, famous for its sand steaming hot springs.
We stayed at a hotel called Ginsho along the coast.
The dinner was very delicious, and the specialty, satsuma-age (fried fish cake ), was cooked in front of us.
Day 2
Climbing Mt.Kaimon
On the morning of the second day, my son and I woke up early to climb nearby Mt.Kaimon.
It is not so high, 924 meters above sea level, but the shape is corn shape same as Mt.Fuji.
So it’s called as SATSUMA ( old name of Kagoshima prefecture) Fuji.
It rises on the coast and offers a spectacular 360-degree view.
Makurazaki Fish Center
We had lunch at Makurazaki Fish Center, a fishing port.
The fresh local fish was very tasty, and the bonito was especially good.
Satsuma Shiranami Shochu ( Japanese liquor)Factory
This is where you can visit the factory of the famous shochu liquor Satsuma Shiranami.
The average temperature in Kagoshima Prefecture is very hot, and regular sake is not suitable for production because it ferments too fast.
Therefore, shochu is more suitable for production, and Kagoshima is a major producer of shochu.
Chiran Peace Museum for Kamikaze Pilots
The Chiran Peace Museum is a place that preserves records of the Kamikaze pilots who went on suicide missions in Japan at the end of World War II.
Many letters left by the Kamikaze pilots, whose average age was between 17 and 20 years old.
These are to their families and it is impossible to see them without tears.
Nothing shows the tragedy of ordinary people whose fates were played out by war more than these letters.
Anyway we enjoyed the 2 days holiday in south of Japan!
Why don’t you try next chance?
You will find another beauty of Japan!
I’m Nobu, one heart enjoy together!!!
