Snow hiking Mt. Myojin to see Mt.Fuji
I’m Nobu, I like traveling overseas and in Japan, visited 25 countries. I’ve got the license of the certificate English guide in Japan for 8 years.
I show you hidden Japan which you have never seen and heard of!
Mt.Myojin Snow Hiking
I went hiking at Mt. Myojin, which is located at the foot of Mt. Fuji, near Lake Yamanaka.
Leke Yamanaka is one of the five lakes of Mt.Fuji.
We can see Mt.Fuji, Lake Yamanaka, and the Japanese Alps together from Mt.Myojin,it’s really a scenic view.
Highway bus
To get there from Tokyo, it takes about two and a half hours from Basta Shinjuku, the express bus terminal in Shinjuku.
You get off at the Yamanakako Hirano bus stop.
It costs 2,350 yen(23.5 dollars).
It is a 60-70 minute hike from there to the top of Mt. Myojin.
I think foreign tourists can make a day trip from Tokyo.
Hiking
From the Yamanakako Hirano bus stop, it takes about 30-40 minutes to reach a observation square called Panorama-dai in the half of Mt.Myojin.
You can also drive here and there is a place to park several cars.
From there, you can see the overwhelming sight of Mt. Fuji, Lake Yamanaka, and the Japanese Alps.
After another 30 minutes of walking, the atmosphere becomes more open and you will reach the top.
Summit
We can see Mt. Fuji, Lake Yamanaka, and the Japanese Alps from even higher up.
At the top of the mountain, there is a alter of Yamanaka Suwa Shrine.
It’s common there is a shrine on top of the mountain in Japan.
On this day, children were also praying to God.
I relaxed on the summit, eating lunch while looking at Mt.Fuji.
The recently fallen snow was still on the trail.
So it was a bit like climbing a snow-covered mountain.
Day trip itinerary
My itinerary for the day was as follows.
Basta Shinjuku 7:45 – Yamanakako Hirano bus stop 10:09
Walking from Hirano bus stop 10:15
Arrive at Panorama-dai 11:00
Arrive at Mt.Myojin summit 11:30
Mt.Myojin departure 12:10
