These are tips for travelers who are coming to Japan in April!
April information
Climate

April in Japan marks the full arrival of spring, with comfortable temperatures nationwide.
Tokyo & Osaka:
Average temperatures range from 10–18°C (50–64°F).
While warm during the day, mornings and evenings can still be chilly.
Hokkaido:
Cooler, with temperatures between 5–12°C (41–54°F).
Some areas may still have snow.
Okinawa:
Warmer, ranging from 18–25°C (64–77°F), with some days warm enough for swimming.
Rain:
Light rain showers are possible in the latter half of the month, but stop soon.
Clothing

Tokyo, Osaka, and central Japan:
Light long-sleeve shirts with a light jacket or cardigan are ideal.
Bring a thin jacket for chilly mornings and evenings.
Hokkaido:
A sweater and a thicker jacket are recommended.
Some days may still require a coat.
Okinawa:
Short sleeves are comfortable, but a light jacket is useful for windy coastal areas.
Rain protection:
Carrying a foldable umbrella or a light raincoat can be handy.
Cherry Blossom (Sakura) Information

Cherry blossoms reach full bloom between late March and early April.
Tokyo & Osaka:
Peak bloom is usually in early April, but the exact timing varies with the weather.
Kyoto:
Peak bloom occurs from late March to early April.
Hokkaido (Sapporo):
Cherry blossoms bloom later, from late April to early May.

Tokyo:
Ueno Park, Chidorigafuchi mort, Shinjuku gyoen park, Yoyogi park,Meguro River
Kyoto:
Philosopher’s Path, Maruyama Park, Arashiyama, Kiyomizu Temple, Heian shrine.
Osaka:
Osaka Castle Park, Sakura Tunnel at Japan Mint (special opening period)
Fukuoka:
Maizuru Park, Ohori Park

April features many events celebrating the arrival of spring.
Hanami (Flower Viewing) – Nationwide:

A traditional event where people gather in parks to enjoy cherry blossoms with food and drinks.
Nemophila Festival (Hitachi Seaside Park, Ibaraki):
Mid-April to early May, featuring breathtaking fields of blue flowers.
Azalea festival in Nezu shrine
Mid-April to early May, featuring beautiful colorful azaleas in the temple hill.
Tulip Festival (Tonami, Toyama):
Mid-April to early May, showcasing over 3 million tulips.

Takayama Spring Festival (Gifu Prefecture, Takayama):
April 14–15, featuring beautifully decorated festival floats.
One of Japan’s three most beautiful festivals.
Yoshinoyama Cherry Blossom Festival (Nara Prefecture):

Travel Tips & Warning
April is a pleasant season for travel, but there are a few things to keep in mind.
Golden Week (Late April – Early May):
Japan’s major holiday period starts in late April.
Expect crowded tourist spots and higher hotel prices.
Pollen Allergies:
Cedar and cypress pollen are prevalent.
Those with allergies should bring masks or medication.
Cherry Blossom Timing Varies:
Weather conditions affect the bloom period, so check the latest updates before planning a trip.
Public Manners
Some parks prohibit reserving spots for hanami (flower viewing)
Carry a trash bag, as public trash cans are rare.
Keep noise levels down on public transport.
Clothing Adjustments:
There can be significant temperature differences between day and night, so layering is recommended.
