Climate in January Japan

It’s cold and dry in Tokyo with an average temperature around 5-10 ℃(40-50℉), humidity is 30-40% very dry.

It’s good to prepare for the chill with layers, coats, gloves, and hats.

On the Pacific Ocean side, sunny days prevail in Tokyo, Kyoto, and Osaka, Kobe, Hiroshima.

On the other hand, Kanazawa and Nagano on the Sea of Japan side have colder weather with more clouds and snow.

Layered Clothing:

Wearing layers is effective.
Prepare warm innerwear, sweaters, and a coat to be ready for the cold.

They are especially useful to protect hands and faces from the cold wind.
