Oarai Isosaki shrine
I went to Oarai Isosaki Shrine in Ibaraki Prefecture, two hours north of Tokyo.
The shrine was founded in 856.
It is said that God descended to a rocky reef on the coast, where a torii gate stands, and the area is still considered sacred.
Shrine ground
The shrine grounds are located on a hill up by stairs.
Anime
Although the shrine grounds are quiet, it is actually the setting for the anime “Girls und Panzer.
It is a collaboration of mystical atmosphere and anime.
