Location: Yushima Tenjin Shrine (Tokyo)
5 minutes walk from metro Yushima station
Yushima Tenjin is founded AD458 , is believed as an academic success.
Every year, the shrine hosts the Yushima Tenjin Plum Blossom Festival, welcoming visitors from Japan and around the world.
What makes this festival special?
• There are 300 plum trees , they bloom in shades of white, pink, and deep red.
These are very cute and beautiful.
•it’s a beautiful contrast of traditional shrine buildings and seasonal flowers
• A calm, authentic Japanese atmosphere — less crowded than cherry blossom spots.
Plum blossoms usually reach their best viewing period from mid-February to early March.
Cultural highlights
During the festival period, you may find:
• Traditional Japanese music and performances on weekends
• Local food stalls selling snacks and sweets

Easy access & travel tip
Yushima Tenjin is 5 minutes walk from Yushima Station of metro Chiyoda line( green color), also near Ueno and Akihabara.
So it’s easy to combine this visit with other popular Tokyo sightseeing spots.
It’s a great stop for a short seasonal walk in the city.
Travel Tip: Plum blossoms have a gentle fragrance — take a slow walk and enjoy the scent as well as the view.
