Below is my recommendations how to enjoy Yoyogi park in Harajuku!
It’s 2-3 minutes walk from JR Harajuku station and Metro Meiji-Jingumae station.
Doutor Park Café YOYOGI
This is the only 1 air conditioned cafe in Yoyogi park.
It’s a historic café renovated from the athletes’ village accommodations used during the 1964 Tokyo Olympics.
In its retro-modern setting, you can enjoy limited-edition menu items like the “YOYOGI Dog,” “Strawberry Matcha Latte,” and Japanese-style parfaits.
Central Plaza and Fountain
A vast lawn area with a wide-open sky.
Large benches surround the fountain, making it a popular spot for travelers to enjoy a leisurely picnic.
It is currently undergoing renovation and will be unveiled this November.
Rose Garden (Flower Garden)
A Western-style garden bursting with color in spring and fall.
Located near the fountain, it bustles with tourists taking photos of the beautifully manicured flowers.
Bird Sanctuary (Wild Bird Observation Facility)
Japan’s first bird sanctuary.
Despite being in the heart of the city, you can quietly observe Japanese wild birds gathering by the water and enjoy the seasonal natural scenery.
Perennial Garden Area
Near the entrance to the Harajuku Gate, there is a perennial garden where plants grow naturally throughout the year without requiring year-round maintenance.
Enjoy the natural charm, and just beyond it is the Doutur Park Café.
Dog Run & Pet Social Area
A gathering spot for local dog lovers.
Its charm lies in Japan’s unique pet culture and the friendly atmosphere as you pass by dogs dressed up in adorable outfits.
Street Performers & Street Dance Zone
Especially on weekend afternoons, rockabilly dancers, musicians, and performers gather in the plaza in front of the Harajuku Gate.
It’s a famous spot where you can experience Tokyo’s unique subculture.
Cycling Trails & Bike Rentals
Dedicated cycling trails allow you to safely explore the vast park.
You can rent adult, children’s, and tandem bikes to ride around while feeling the breeze.

Cherry Blossom Garden (Spring “Hanami” Spot)
One of Tokyo’s most popular hanami spots, where 700–800 Somei-Yoshino cherry trees bloom in spring. ( 25th March to 8th April)
You can experience the Japanese “hanami” culture by spreading out a blanket and enjoying the blossoms.
The Red and Blue Murals at Shibuya Gate
Shibuya Gate features red and blue murals, and it’s popular to dance in front of them and post the videos on YouTube or TikTok.
