Harajuku Takeshita Street is a small street, 35–400 meters long, that runs from the Takeshita Exit of JR Harajuku Station to Meiji-dori street.
However, this small street is home to 130 diverse shops and restaurants, making it a weekend hangout for Japanese elementary and middle school students.
Recently, it has become a hotspot for young people from around the world.
Here are 40 spots I recommend.
Mocha Cafe (Cat Cafe)
The quiet atmosphere is soothing.

Uniqlo
Japan’s largest casual clothing store, where you can find a wide variety of items at reasonable prices.

A brick-and-mortar store for an online clothing retailer.
They also carry miscellaneous goods.
Kamo
Football gear, including Samurai Blue uniforms.
Baby Tapi
A bubble tea shop.
The staff includes TikTok and YouTube influencers.
Yoshinoya
A beef bowl chain—affordable and delicious.
Le Ponte
An alley lined with many small, affordable shops.
Picnic
This is the best place to buy cute souvenirs.
It’s located at the end of the alley mentioned in #8 (Le Ponte).
Churos
They sell delicious churros. Since you can’t eat while walking, please eat in front of the store.
Noa Coffee
If you get tired from walking, take a break here.
McDonald’s
This is also a good place to take a break.
Kutsushitaya(Socks Shop)
In Japan, there are many occasions when you have to take off your shoes.
Be sure to wear clean socks.

Delicious crêpes that are a symbol of Takeshita Street.
There’s always a line, but you can place your order by telling the staff your number from the display.

Laforet Harajuku
A fashion and apparel building.
The epicenter of Harajuku trends.
Omohara Forest
A small, free park on the rooftop of Tokyu Plaza.
There’s also a Starbucks next door.
Harakado
A building across from the intersection mentioned in #40.
The upper floors feature balcony-style areas with great views.
Anakuma Cafe
A quiet cafe with no people.
When you order via tablet, a bear’s paw hands your order to you through a hole.
Togo Shrine
A quiet shrine that appears when you turn into the alley next to the Marion Crepe shop.
The Japanese garden with a pond is home to many beautiful koi.
Purukura land
A Photo Booth.
You can make funny photos!
