What isSumo?
Sumo is an ancient Japanese ritual or festival in which wrestlers fight in pairs on the ring.
And at the same time, it is a martial art that originated from this ritual.
There are similar martial arts in various countries.
History
Japanese sumo is said to have started in 23 B.C. with a match between Nomi-no-Sukune and Toma-no-kehay which took place in front of Emperor Suinin.
Rules
Sumo is won by pushing the opponent out of the ring or by forcing him to place part of his body on the ring.
Grand Sumo tournament
The Japan Grand Sumo Association holds tournaments six times a year.
The tournament is held in
Tokyo in January,
Osaka in March,
Tokyo in May,
Nagoya in July,
Tokyo in September,
Fukuoka in November
15 days of competition are held in the middle to the end of each month.

Thickets are available through this website from the first week of the month prior to the tournament month.
Access to Ryogoku Kokugikan of Tokyo official tournament.
JR Ryogoku station
West exit is close to the stadium.
How the tournament day?
The official tournament day starts at 10:00 from the lower-rank fight and finishes at 18:00 with the highest-rank fight.
You can enjoy from the morning but most of the audience attend in the afternoon.
Photo chance with Sumo wrestlers
Many Sumo wrestlers walk in front of the stadium and JR station.
You can ask Sumo wrestlers to take photo together.
They are very friendly!!
Dohyo-iri
It’s Sumo wrestler’s entering ceremony.
Their apron is very colorful!
Yokozuna dohyo-iri
This is Yokozuna ( grand champion) entertaining ceremony.
It’s strong and elegant!
