‘KATANA blacksmith’
I visited KATANA ( Japanese sword)blacksmith to OME city west part of Tokyo.
KATANA is famous as a weapon of SAMURAI until medieval age .
Today it’s also popular as an art form from it’s mysterious beauty.
There are 300 sword masters in Japan now , they still do the TRARA steel making method same as the old time .
You see the TARARA steel making scene in the popular anime movie MONONOKE-HIME( princess MONONOKE)too.
This blacksmith is HIRATA blacksmith.
Mr. HIRATA who trained 13 years at the famous blacksmith at BIZEN( Okayama prefecture, famous for their great KATANA products during long historical time), opened this blacksmith 3 years ago.
It’s open for audiences from 13:00-15:00 on Saturday and Sunday for free.
It takes 1 hour 30 minutes to TOKYO to FUTAMATAO station, 7 minutes walk from JR FUTAMATAO station to the HIRATA blacksmith.
