March temperature
Cherry Blossom forecast

March marks the beginning of spring in Japan and the temperatures are getting warmer.

Average daytime temperatures range from 10°C to 15°C, ( 50-60 ℉)sometimes exceeding 20°C( 70 ℉).

However you should notice that mornings and evenings can still be chilly.

During the day, a light jacket, sweater, or long-sleeved shirt will be comfortable.

Short-sleeved clothing will be fine on days with strong sunlight.

However, it gets cold at night, so bringing a light coat or stole may be useful.

Plum blooming

In March, you can see plum blossoms until the beginning of the month.

From the latter half of the month, it is the cherry blossom season!

In Tokyo from the cherry blossom forest, blossoming starts from 17th March 2024!

Full bloom will be 25-31st March .

You can enjoy viewing cherry blossoms at parks and shrines that are famous for their beauty.

Hinamatsuri( girls festival)

March is also the time for the Girls’ Festival (March 3) and spring festivals.

There are many events and it is fun to participate in the events at various places.

Starbucks Sakura flavor

March is a month of abundant seasonal foods.

During the cherry blossom season, you can find in stores dishes and sweets made with cherry blossoms flavor.

These are only available during this season.

Starbucks and other retailers also offer cherry blossom flavored products.

Spring vegetables and seafood are also recommended.

Furthermore, in March, you can also enjoy traditional Japanese sweets and hina-arare associated with Hinamatsuri (Girls’ Festival).

Hanami( cherry blossom viewing)

Hanami is an event where everyone gathers together when the cherry blossoms are in bloom, enjoys looking at them, and if it’s permitted, sits around them and enjoys eating and drinking together.

You are welcome to try it wherever you are.

My Recommendations for Cherry Blossom Viewing are,

260 cherry trees line the north side of the Imperial Palace moat, Chidorigafuchi, from around Hanzomon Station to Kudanshita Station.

Here, visitors can take a boat ride on the moat and view the cherry blossoms blooming on both banks from the surface of the water.

The contrast between the water and the cherry blossoms is beautiful.
