Hi I’m Nobu, I like traveling overseas and in Japan, visited 32 countries!
I’m a National Government Licensed Guide Interpreter of English for 12 years.
For the people who are interested in and planning trip to Japan ,
I show you hidden local information which you Ihave never seen and heard of through books and ordinary site!
You will find unexpected fun through my articles!
Ryogoku Sumo Street

On the way to the Ryogoku Kokugikan, we walk through Ryogoku, the heart of the sumo world.
You will see sculptures and handprints depicting the dohyo-iri (ring-entering ceremony) of Yokozuna (grand champions).
You can also see colorful banners bearing the names of many wrestlers.
You will get a close-up feel for Japanese sumo culture.

Ryogoku Kokugikan (Sumo Stadium)

We visit the Ryogoku Kokugikan, the sacred home of Japanese sumo.
This is where the official Grand Sumo tournaments are held. It offers a chance to experience the arena’s unique atmosphere and immerse yourself in traditional Japanese culture.
Wrestlers’ Ring-Entering Ceremony (Dohyo-iri)

Before the top-division matches begin, we watch the dohyo-iri, the ceremony in which the wrestlers enter the ring.
It is a spectacular and powerful ceremony, with the wrestlers lined up together in the ring wearing their beautiful ceremonial aprons.
Yokozuna Ring-Entering Ceremony

This is a special ring-entering ceremony performed exclusively by the Yokozuna, the highest-ranking wrestlers.
Seeing the Yokozuna, clad in a ceremonial kesho-mawashi apron, perform this unique ritual is one of the most iconic moments in Grand Sumo.
The Matches

Finally, we watch the serious competition of the official tournament.
You will enjoy an immersive experience that television cannot convey: feeling the raw power of the wrestlers colliding, hearing the referee’s shouts, and sharing in the excitement of the crowd’s cheers.
Bow-Twirling Ceremony (Yumitori-shiki)

The day concludes with the Yumitori-shiki (bow-twirling ceremony).
This is a long-standing traditional ritual in which a wrestler performs graceful movements while skillfully handling a bow.
It was originally performed by the winner of the final bout, but today it is performed by a designated wrestler.
It is a beautiful and spectacular ritual that makes the Grand Sumo viewing experience truly memorable.
Sumo Fan Dinner

After the matches, we enjoy dinner with fellow sumo fans.
It is a fun way to wrap up the tour, looking back on the day’s bouts while chatting about sumo and Japanese culture.

How was it?
Why don’t you try next chance?
