‘100 cherry blossom spots in Japan, at SAKURA-HONBO temple in YOSHINO ,Nara prefecture’
I came across the cute temple with beautiful cherry blossoms on the way to the top of YOSHINO mountain.
This temple is SAKURA-HONBO temple, founded AD 673 .
This temple has many remains which related to SHUGENDO , the ancient syncretism with Shintoism and Buddhism.
The red TORII gate of SHINTO , Buddha temple buildings and Buddha statue are in the same ground.
You can try the trainings of writing the chantings , meditation, waterfall purification and walking tour around the sacred spots in the mountain in this temple.
It takes 20 minutes by bus from YOSHINO station or 55 minutes walk from the station.
I did walking, enjoyed many temples , shrines , observatories along the way.
