How to grow Kaede Bonsai

I visited Showa Kinen Park in west of Tokyo.
I saw impressive Kaede Bonsai.
Hi I show you how to grow it.
Kaede ( Japanese maple)
Kaede is not so popular as Momiji trees.
But in plant classification, Kaede and Momiji trees are considered to be the same plant.
The Momiji with five lobes is called “Kaede”.
I think the changing colors of its leaves are just as beautiful as those of the Momiji, giving us a sense of Japanese beauty.
Place
It is tolerant of heat and cold, so it is best to keep it in a sunny place.
However, the hot western sun in mid-summer can cause leaf burn, so it should be shaded or kept out of the western sun.
Watering
If the plant is not well watered in summer, it will not grow well.
The roots grow quickly and love water.
Fertilizer
Apply organic solid fertilizer once a month from April to July and from September until the leaves change color.
Remove the fertilizer when the leaves begin to change color.
Pests and Diseases
Aphids are common when new shoots appear, so destroy them as soon as you find them.
It can be prevented by spraying chemicals during the winter.
Sanyor liquid is recommended.
It is also effective against powdery mildew.
Shoots trimming
When the shoots on branches that you do not want to extend grow larger, open the shoots with tweezers and pluck out the shoots in the middle.
Leaves trimming
Cut off one side of a pair of leaves or cut them in half to improve air circulation.
If you cut off all the unevenly sized leaves, the next leaves will be the same size and you can enjoy the beautiful autumn colors.
Pruning
Pruning should be done after the leaves have fallen.
Then pruning the overgrown branches will increase the number of fine branches.
Wiring
Wire after the leaves are fallen.
The branches are stiff, so be careful when bending them.
