Strong winds and heavy rain can affect travel plans.

This is the day to honor the elderly. Sometimes it creates a long weekend called “Silver Week.”

Many families visit cemeteries to pay respects to ancestors.

• Be prepared for travel disruptions caused by typhoons; allow extra time for transportation.

• Hot days still early September, so remember hydration, sunscreen, and a hat to avoid heat exhaustion.

• Mosquitoes are still common in September, especially outdoors, so insect repellent is useful.
