The most beautiful mountain in Hokkaido, Mt.Yotei!
Hi I’m Nobu, I like traveling overseas and in Japan, visited 25 countries!
I’m a National Government Licensed Guide Interpreter of English for 8 years.
I show you hidden Japan which you have never seen and heard of!
Mt. Yotei
Mt.Yotei is an active volcano with a conical shape similar to Mt.Fuji.
So it’s called Ezo Fuji (“Ezo ” is the old name for Hokkaido).
The summit is 1,898m high, the third highest mountain in Hokkaido.
In front of Niseko
The Niseko ski resort, famous for its powder snow, is located directly in front of Mt. Yotei.
From the slopes of Niseko, you can ski with a view of Mt.Yotei.
Shikotsu-Toya National Park
This area is located in the Shikotsu-Toya National Park.
There are various wild animals, and I heard a lot of bush warblers on the way up.
I also saw a few squirrels too!
There may be bears , so bring bear bell and take care of them!
Climbing Courses
There are four different trails, each takes 5-6 hours to climb up and 4-5 hours to descend, for a total of 9-10 hours.
I took the Hirafu course.
I walked fast and took 4 hours uphill and 3 hours and 30 minutes downhill, for a total of 7 hours and 30 minutes.
View from the summit
The 1,898m summit is actually part of a large crater bowl.
It takes about one hour to go around.
You can see the whole large crater from the top and enjoy 360 degrees views.
You can see Niseko Annupuri nearby and Daisetsuzan, the highest peak in Hokkaido, in the distance.
If you ever have the chance to visit Hokkaido, try your hand at climbing Mt.Yotei.
Equipment
If you climb Mt.Yotei, be prepared for sudden changes in weather conditions, wear nice climbing shoes, rain gear, and cold weather gear.
If you prepare well, you will not be in trouble.
I’m Nobu, one heart enjoy together!!!
