Miyajima ferry boat

We took ferry boat from Miyajimaguchi to Miyajima.

The view is beautiful!

Itsukushima Shrine

Founded in 593 by a powerful local clan, this is one of Japan’s most famous shrines.

At high tide, it appears to float on the sea.

Particularly famous is the “Great Torii Gate” located 200 m offshore; at high tide, it creates a magical scene floating on the water, while at low tide, you can walk right up to it!

Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, it is a place where you can experience traditional Japanese beauty.

Atomic Bomb Dome

This historic structure stands as a testament to the devastation caused by the atomic bomb dropped on August 6, 1945.

Despite being located near the epicenter of the explosion, the building miraculously survived.

Now it’s serving as a powerful reminder to the world of the horrors of war and the importance of peace.

It is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Children’s Peace Monument

This monument serves as a memorial for the children who fell victim to the atomic bomb.

It is known worldwide particularly for the story of Sadako Sasaki, a young girl who survived the bombing but got sick 10 years later leukemia.

She folded a thousand paper cranes in prayer for her recovery but couldn’t accomplish.

To this day, many people continue to offer cranes here.

Memorial Cenotaph for the Atomic Bomb Victims

This memorial monument is located at the center of Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park.

It contains the names of those who died in the atomic bombing, and the words “Rest in peace; we shall not repeat the mistake” are engraved on it.

It is a quiet and solemn place where many people offer their prayers.

Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum

This museum conveys the devastation caused by the atomic bomb and its lasting effects.

Through the personal belongings, photographs, and testimonies of atomic bomb survivors.

Visitors can gain a deep understanding of the reality of war and the importance of peace.

We went back to Kyoto by bullet train !!
