‘HIGAN , AUTUMNAL EQUINOX DAY’
Autumnal equinox day is 19-25th September. The middle day is the national holiday in Japan.
It is the day the length of daytime and nighttime is the same. In Buddhism we call it HIGAN, the day this world and other world get closer , so we visit ancestors graveyard and cleans it , offer new flowers and pray to our loved ones.
HIGAN literally means ‘ to reach the enlightenment’ in old Indian Sanskrit.
It is the day we remember all the favors from our ancestors and pray gratitude for them. Can we reflect ourselves and improve more ?
