Hokokuji Temple(bamboo temple )



Founded: 1334
A quiet Zen temple famous for its beautiful bamboo grove.
Often called “The Bamboo Temple,” it offers a peaceful escape from the busy tourist areas.
Walking through the tall bamboo forest is a unique and calming experience.
Hokokuji Tea House

Established:12th–13th century Zen period
Inside Hokokuji, you can enjoy traditional Japanese matcha green tea while looking at the bamboo garden.
This tea experience reflects Zen culture, where tea drinking is considered a form of meditation.
Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine


Founded: 1063 (moved to current location in 1180)
The most important Shinto shrine in Kamakura, dedicated to the samurai god Hachiman.
It was the spiritual center of the Kamakura shogunate and remains a symbol of samurai culture and Japanese history.
Dankazura Pathway


Constructed: 1182
A raised stone pathway leading to Tsurugaoka Hachimangu.
It was built by Minamoto no Yoritomo for safe travel and prosperity.
Today, it is especially famous for cherry blossoms in spring, creating a beautiful tunnel of sakura.
Kotoku-in Temple / Great Buddha


Founded: 1252 (Great Buddha cast)
Home to the iconic Great Buddha of Kamakura, a massive bronze statue about 11 m tall.
It is one of Japan’s most famous landmarks, and visitors can even go inside the statue.
Enoshima Benzaiten


Founded: AD552
A shrine dedicated to Benzaiten, the goddess of music, fortune, and water.
Enoshima has long been a sacred island, attracting pilgrims seeking luck, success, and artistic talent.
Enoshima Iwaya Caves



Formed:AD552
Sea caves carved by waves, historically used by monks for meditation and religious training.
Walking through the caves with candles creates a mysterious and spiritual atmosphere.
