‘SUPERSTITION’
Japan is a modern country but also keep our tradition steadily in various aspects.
So there are many mysterious superstitions remain in Japan.
I came across this ‘ HITOGATA NAGASHI’ ritual , the paper doll floating at OOKUNITAMA shrine in FUCHU-HONMACHI west of Tokyo.
HITOGATA NAGASHI is the way the paper doll substitutes our anxieties and sufferings , release us from it.
We buy human shape paper 100 yen and write our name on it and we pet the paper part where our body is not good .
Then we float it on the small stream nearby.
It melts in the water soon, which substitutes our pains and sufferings .
It’s not scientific at all but many people try it and enjoy it.
