Katsudon
I had katsudon for lunch near Mt.Fuji.
The common style of katsudon is “pork cutlet and onion stewed in soy sauce-flavored allotment, then simmered with egg and served on rice. “
When simply called “katsudon,” above is the basic form of katsudon.( there are other types in other regions)
Popular Japanese dish
It is a Japanese dish that is served in a variety of places, including restaurants, soba and udon noodle shops, bento shops, as well as restaurants specializing in tonkatsu (pork cutlet).
On Japanese anime, Katsudon sometimes shows up as a main character’s favorite food!
We Japanese enjoy Katsudon often on these places.
History
It is said to have originated in Yamanashi Prefecture foot of Mt.Fuji , it was first served in restaurants around 1900.
