Minami Izu Cherry Blossom and Canola Blossom Festival !
I went to the Minami Izu Cherry Blossom and Canola Blossom Festival in Minami Izu Town, the southernmost tip of the Izu Peninsula in Kanagawa Prefecture.
Minami Izu Town
Minami-Izu Town is the southernmost tip of the Izu Peninsula, washed by the warm Kuroshio Current of the Pacific Ocean and known for its mild climate.
Festival events
A festival with stalls will be held from February 1 to March 10, and at the same time, the festival will be illuminated from 6 pm. to 9pm.
About 800 kawazu cherry trees are planted along 4 km of both banks of the Aono River.
Kawazu cherry blossoms pink are beautifully combined with canola blossoms yellow along the riverbank.
The Aono River is a natural river flow with no revetment construction, and has gentle curves.
It’s very nostalgic to see as back in time!!
There are also large fields of canola blossoms , which contrast beautifully with the blue sky.
Access
You can go from Tokyo Station, take the Izu-no-Odoriko express train directly to Shimoda Station, which takes about 2 hours and 40 minutes and costs 6,200 yen.
From there, take a bus for 20 minutes to Kujobashi Bridge for 780 yen.
Kumomi Beach
From nearby Kumomi Beach, you can see a spectacular view of Mt.Fuji.
Today we were lucky enough to see Mt. Fuji over the offshore Shishi-iwa (Lion’s Head Rock).
Sunset
From the west side of the Izu Peninsula, you can see a beautiful sunset.
It’s almost sunset time!!
