Taketomi Island
I went to Taketomi Island in Okinawa Prefecture.
Taketomi Island is a raised coral reef island with a population of about 300 people.
And a circumference of 9 km, a 15-minute boat ride from Ishigaki Island, an hour’s flight from the main island of Okinawa.
The whole area is a beautiful island belonging to the Iriomote-Ishigaki National Park.
The island’s roads are white sand which is maintained by the residents, which matches well with the red bricks of the houses.
Buffalo Cart
A very popular activity is to take a leisurely tour of the village on a buffalo cart.
On the way, a singer sings a song about the woman from the area for you.
Kondoi Beach
I went to Kondoi Beach, the only swimming beach on the island.
This beach is probably one of the most beautiful beaches in the world.
The endless expanse of pure white sand and crystal clear water.
I feel like I want to stay here forever.
Star Sand Beach
The nearby Kaiji beach is also famous for its star shape sand.
There were people looking for star sand on this day too!
It is said that star sand is made of coral reefs that have been scraped into small pieces and somehow form the shape of a star only on this beach.
It is said to be a symbol of happiness.
