What are Kawazu Cherry Blossoms?

Someiyoshino cherry blossom
Kawazu-zakura is an early-hblooming cherry tree that blooms from the beginning of February for a month.
Compared to the common Someiyoshino, it blooms two months earlier than Someiyoshino, and can be appreciated for about a month, while Someiyoshino falls in about 10 days.
The color of someiyoshino is light pink, whereas that of Kawazu cherry blossom is dark pink.
Kawazu Cherry Blossom Festival
The Kawazu Cherry Blossom Festival is held every year from February 1 to February 29 in the southeastern Izu Peninsula.
Kawazu town is said to be the birthplace of the Kawazu cherry tree.
The 850 Kawazu cherry trees lining both banks of the Kawazu River are at their best from mid to late February.
Access
It takes about 2 hours and 20 minutes from Tokyo Station by JR Izu-no-Odoriko-go train.
It’s 6000 yen( 40 USD) one way from Tokyo to Kawazu station.
If you get off at Kawazu Station and walk along the railroad tracks to the Kawazu River, will find food stalls and small shops along the way.
It takes about 3 hours from Tokyo by car.

If you go to the tatebashi (bridge) that hangs over the Kawazu River, you can take pictures of
lined beautiful Kawazu cherry blossoms and the Kawazu River!
Along the train track
The road along JR train track is a nice place where you can take canola flowers, Kawazu cherry blossoms at the same time!
Also along from 7 waterfalls area to JR Kawazu station road, there are many Kawazu cherry blossoms!
You can take photos wherever you like them!
