Kaiseki town
Kaisei Town is a local town in Kanagawa Prefecture, surrounded by big rice paddies and the mountains.
Hydrangeas festival
During the hydrangea season, the town holds a hydrangea festival, where 5,000 hydrangeas bloom in the vast rice paddies.
The hydrangea festival runs from June 10-18.
White, blue, and purple hydrangeas will be in full bloom along the footpaths between rice paddies and on both sides of irrigation ditches.
Several food booths will be set up, and hula dancing and other activities are performed on the main stage.
On the 17th and 18th, street performances, monkey shows, Japanese drums, and a police band will be performed.
It takes about 1 hour and 20 minutes from Shinjuku to Kaisei Station on the Odakyu Electric Railway.
During the festival period, a special bus takes 10 minutes to the festival site. Buses run every 20 minutes and cost 200 yen.
The entrance fee is free.
