Mt.Oyama hike
We hiked to Mt.Oyama , in the Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan.
The weather was mostly sunny and somewhat humid, but it was a nice hiking day.
The base of the hike was at the Oyama Afuri Shrine founded BC,2.
From the car parking lot, we walked for about 15 minutes along the traditional approach to the shrine and took a cable car to the Oyama Afuri Shrine.
Oyama Afuri shrine
From the shrine grounds, we could see the Pacific Ocean and Enoshima Island in the distance.
There was also a spring called “Shinsui” (divine water) at the back of the shrine grounds.
We filled our plastic bottles with it.
From there, it took us about 1 hour and 20 minutes to reach the summit 1,252m.
The results were as follows
10:30Afuri Shrine
11:10 crossroad
11:50 summit
12:40Departure from the summit
14:00Afuri Shrine
The ascent was tough on a steep and rocky path.
At the summit, we had lunch and relaxed while enjoying the view of the Pacific Ocean.
The descent was downhill along a path with a constant view of the Pacific Ocean.
Compared to the ascent, the descent was relatively easy.
Descent
At the starting point, Afuri Shrine, we had a cold drink and rested.
A lone deer was also relaxing nearby.
After that, we rested in the lovely hot water at Nanasawa Onsen and made our skin very smooth!
Dinner
After returning to Tokyo, we filled our stomachs at a local Tonkatsu( Japanese pork cutlet )restaurant.
It was a wonderful one-day trip.
Would you like to join us next time?
