400 years old
On August 26 and 27, for the first time in 3 years, a 400-year-old fire festival was held in Fujiyoshida City, Yamanashi Prefecture, at the foot of Mt.Fuji.
The festival is held on the approach to the Kitaguchi Hongu Fuji Sengen Shrine, the gateway to the Yoshida trail on Mt.Fuji.
The end of summer
It shows the end of climbing season of Mt.Fuji and symbolizes the end of summer.
The town is decorated in flames as 90 large torches.
Mt.Fuji at dusk with the beautiful lights of the mountain lodges and the flames of the torches standing straight up along the approach to the mountain.
This is one of the three strangest festivals in Japan and one of the ten largest fire festivals in Japan, and is a representative festival of Fujiyoshida city.
Portable shrines
Two portable shrines, the “Omyojin-san” and the “Mikage” (Mt. Fuji), parade through the local community in the Yoshida area.
At dusk, the portable shrines are dedicated at a place called “Otabisho”( station)
At the same time, more than 90 large torches, tied into a 3-meter-high bamboo shoot shape, are lit.
The fantastic sight of the torchlight illuminating a 2km stretch of road is breathtaking.
Why don’t you come here next chance?
You will find the another beauty of Japan.
I’m Nobu, one heart enjoy together!!!
