Why don’t you enjoy varieties of pink colors in Japan?

Samurai residence
I went to Shinjuku Gyoen Park.
This was the site of a samurai family called the Naito family during the feudal age.
Ieyasu Tokugawa, who later founded the Tokugawa Shogunate, gave this place to the Naito family in 1591.
Imperial park
In 1906, the park was opened as an imperial park combining Japanese, French, and English-style gardens.
It was burnt down during World War II, but was reopened as a people’s national park in 1949.
Popular hanami ( cherry blossom viewing) spot
Today, the park is one of the most famous hanami ( cherry blossom)viewing spots in Tokyo .
There are 1,100 cherry trees and 68 varieties in bloom different period from late March to mid-April.
Varieties of pink colors
There are 68 varieties of cherry blossoms in Shinjuku Gyoen, and today I could see petals of various colors.
There were dark pink, light pink, white pink, weeping cherry blossoms, and many other colors of cherry blossoms.
These are very beautiful!
Admission is 500 yen( 5 dollars).
Alcohol is not available,not like as other cherry blossom viewing spots.
Also, until April 10, the number of visitors is limited to 2,000 to prevent covid-19 infection.
Reservation required
That’s why advance reservation is required.
If you are planning to visit, it would be safer to make a reservation in advance.
I found out that reservations are required when I got to the entrance.
However, since the flowers were only 10-20% in bloom, there were not many reservations and I was able to enter.
Still some of the cherry trees were in full bloom, so I was able to enjoy an early cherry blossom viewing.
If you come to Japan in late March to mid-April, I recommend you visit Shinjuku Gyoen for sure.
It has more varieties of cherry trees than any other cherry blossom viewing spot, and they are in full bloom at different times.
So you can be sure to see them in full bloom!
