I’m Nobu, I like traveling overseas and in Japan, visited 25 countries. I’ve got the license of the certificate English guide in Japan for 7 years.I show you hidden Japan which you have never seen and heard of!
Hahajima island
I am on Hahajima Island in the Ogasawara Islands.
It’s an archipelago in the Pacific Ocean, 1,000 kilometers south of Tokyo, but it’s also in the Tokyo metropolitan.
It is Ogasawara Village in Tokyo.
There are about 460 people living on Hahajima.
The people live in Okimura village and in other places on the island to produce agricultural products.
I believe the atmosphere has not changed since it was first discovered in the 16th century.
I rented a motorcycle at the youth hostel where I stayed.
Hahajima is a coral reef that rose from the ocean floor, and it is very rugged.
So motorcycles are the best way to get around.
Leave motor bike with key on it
When I rented the bike, the owner of the youth hostel explained how to use it.
She told me that I could leave the key on the bike even when we got off the bike and left.
This is because there are no thieves on the island.
No one steals bikes here.
I think even tourists come to the island either.
Normally, leaving your bike with a key is like asking someone to steal your bike.
A village without thieves
When I was a little boy , my parents’ house was always unlocked.
And the door was left open during the summer.
It was really laid-back atmosphere that time.
Here, that atmosphere still remains the same.
Here on Hahajima, you can enjoy the good old Japanese laid-back atmosphere.
Rental bikes cost 2,500 yen for 8 hours and 3,000 yen for 24 hours.
You must return the bike with a full tank of gas.
It takes about 30-40 minutes by motor bike to get from Okimura to Kita Port on the north end of the island.
And about 10-15minutes by motor bike to the Minamisaki roundabout on the south end.
Due to the rugged nature of Hahajima, renting a motor bike is highly recommended.
Why don’t you come and explore this untouched, thief-free island?
I’m Nobu, one heart enjoy together!!!
