Omoide yokocho( nostalgic alley)
Shinjuku West Exit Shopping Street, commonly known as OkoideYokocho, is a shopping street located in Nishi-Shinjuku 1-chome, Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo.
It is also known as Yakitori Yokocho, as well as the former common name Pissing Yokocho.
It has its roots in the black market that was established around 1946, when the damages of air raids were remained .
It once extended as far as the Shinjuku branch of Odakyu Department Store and was lined with some 300 stores.
There are many yakitori ( skewered grilled chicken)stores, motsuyaki shops, discount tickets stores, and teishoku-ya (set meal restaurant ) .
Once inside, the area is crammed with small restaurants reminiscent of the Showa ( 1926-1989)period.
Come back from Covid-19
For two and a half years, this street had very few people due to Covid-19.
However, it seems that the bustle of the old days has finally begun to return.
Surrounded by skyscrapers, this place has the exact opposite life-size atmosphere of Shinjuku.
Would you like to have something to eat?
I’m Nobu, one heart enjoy together!!!
