I climbed Mt. MEAKAN in Hokkaido.
It consists of 8 active volcanos formed 3000-10000 years ago.
The latest small eruption was 2006.
The volcanic activities made several beautiful lakes in the caldera, AKAN lake and several more.
It’s just 1499m but the scenery from the top is 360 degrees view and there are many highland flowers on the trail.
You smell sulfur gas and see blue mysterious volcano pond very close.
You have to write down your name on the climbing notification note at the trailhead.
